Item Details
Description
In the post-War era, Springfield Armory manufactured specific National Match guns for the Camp Perry national matches. This example was built on an Ithaca frame, with a U.S. marked Triangle adjustable rear sight and distinct raised front sight. Left of slide with NM7791435 drawing number, right side with "DRAKE MFG. CORP." The Drake frames are very scarce as they were only used in 1964 with a production of 800, and only 195 of those were released through the DCM. Frame has normal US Property marking, "T" proof, "SA" rebuild proof, and "NM" on right side of trigger guard. Left side of frame has FJA proof for Atwood. Small parts comprise checkered narrow hammer, thick tab serrated safety, serrated slide stop, checkered magazine release, short aluminum trigger, long 1911A1 grip safety, serrated arched mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Front strap correctly checkered in the National Match style. National match bushing and barrel, with barrel numbered to frame, boxed "C" on right lug, "MP" on left lug. Accompanied by the original shipping box with ink stamped "1005-738-3026-B001 / PISTOL AUTO CAL 45 M1911A1 NM W E / 1 EA A 7/64 / SPRINGFIELD ARMORY". Box has been heat shrink plastic wrapped with an open circle on bottom of box. CONDITION: Overall excellent, retaining virtually all of the arsenal reapplied parkerization, some minor marks from handling and storage. Some beginning freckling on frame and rear sight. Legends softened throughout but legible. Frame is excellent with some handling marks and light marks at reciprocating parts. Mechanically fine (and showing clear evidence of skillful gunsmith work), bore is excellent with crisp rifling. A scarce gun with the box.
