Description
Ancient Egypt, Neolithic to Predynastic Period, ca. 5000 to 3500 BCE. A hand-knapped flint knife of oblong form with remains of petite serrations along both peripheries. Knapped flint blades like this example are perhaps some of the oldest farming implements known to archaeologists. This type of bifacial blade was perhaps an insert for a sickle or a cutting instrument for ceremonial butchery in a temple. Size: 6.125" L x 1.4" W (15.6 cm x 3.6 cm)
