Collection of 27 British Officers, Signed Letters and Free Franks from The Napoleonic Wars: The Peninsular War and Trafalgar. Very impressive collection taking years to build of a great many British generals and Naval officers in command during the Napoleonic Wars:

1.) Peninsular War (1808-1814) ALS by General Sir David Bird (dated 1819). Paymaster receipt signed November, 1816 by General Robert William O' Callaghan in excellent condition plus 13 free franks signed by William Beresford, George Ramsay, Kenneth Howard, William Henry Clinton, Frederic French, Stapleton Cotton, Henry Harding, James Erskin, Edmund Phipps, Robert Trefutis Miles Nightingall, Sir George Nugent and Charles Gordon Lennox all in excellent condition.

2.) Battle of Trafalgar (October 1805) Significant Naval Battle lead by Nelson. Thomas Mastersman Hardy Nelson's Flag Captain, ALS written between 1809-1812 while Hardy was serving as Flag Captain to Admiral George Cranfield Berkely requesting "the battleship Bruin embark from Almada" in excellent condition, Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Francis ALS dated October 1814 ALS who served with Nelson and at Trafalgar captained the H.M.S. Neptune, the third ship in the weather line. Letter is to Captain Robert Mitford as to why declined Lord Melville's offer of the command in India and in superior condition. Cuthbert Collingwood, 2nd in Command to Nelson at Trafalgar signed baptismal certificate for his son, Edward, March, 1787. Edward Codrington, Captain of the Orion at Trafalgar, signs his approval by a purser's note to supply the use of the HMS Blake for "7840 gallons of beer in Butts" in 1810. Richard King, Commander of the HMS Achilles at Trafalgar, an ALS dated 1798 to Admiral Charles Thompson Bart regarding orders for a Court Marshall returned while away at sea. Thomas Dundas, Commander of the HMS Naiad at Trafalgar under direct orders of Nelson. Signed salutation dated Sept. 30, 1834. Sir Eliab Harvey Commander of the HMS Temeraire, made famous by a stunning painting by J.M.W. Turner and his penchant for gambling and sword play. Letter signed to Sir Francis Freeling regarding the appointment of a new postmaster dated 1821

3.) Rear Admiral Robert Pamplin, St. Helena Pamplin had risen to the rank of rear-admiral and in November 1816 was appointed commander-in-chief on the Cape of Good Hope and St Helena station where he was responsible for the naval forces enforcing the captivity of Napoleon on the island. and excellent ALS outlining to a Captain Rennie regarding the inventory and overhaul of the HMS Tees.
