Paul Tibbets and Charles Sweeney: Three Autographed Pieces by the Pilots Who Flew in Two Separate Missions, The Atomic Bombing of Japan. Paul Tibbets (1915-2007) Brigadier General in the Air Force best know as the Captain and pilot of the Enola Gay, the Superfortress that carried the atomic bomb dropped on Heroshima. An early signed photo with his signature, "Paul Tibbets-Pilot" in blue ball-point pen, is very steady and clean.
Charles Sweeney (1919-2004) Air force officer and pilot of B-29, Bockscar that dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki three days after Hiroshima. Two signed First Day Issue covers one commemorating U.S. Servicemen postmarked 1970, Montgomery, Alabama and the other dated 1991 commemorating World War II.
All three pieces in choice condition. Estimated Value $400 - 600
