Description
Heavy metal box in black paint. Laudanum. Stenciled RMS LACONIA 1922 CUNARD LINE 16695 TONS 2ND CLASS (350) MEDICAL DEPT. The Laconia was built by Swan, Hunter and Wigham, Richardson, NewCastle, England. 16,695 tons, 601; x 73; one funnel, 350 1st, 350 2nd and 1500 3rd class passengers. She was converted to a troop ship and torpedoed and sunk in the South Atlantic, 12 Sep., 1942 bound for England from Egypt with a heavyloss of life. Box is in great condition, dated on plaque inside 1937 and measures 25 x 15 x 10 inches.
