Ancient Pre Columbian Pair of Jadeite Cylinder Beads c.200-900 AD. Size 1 3/4 - 1 7/8 inches length. Pre-Columbian, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, Tairona. A pair of Jadeite cylinder beads. One is carved with a head of a Lord wearing a headdress, chest adornment and shoulder length hair. The second is two sided in design, one side depicts a shaman wearing a tunic and headband, the reverse depicts the same, however with the face is a skull. These cylinders used as ceremonial jewlry and often attached to body gold ornamentations and headdress. Provenance: Private collection of Enrique Cardenas Olaya.
