Measurements: 7.5 x 28 x 7 cm; 11 cm diameter of disc.
Traditional Chinese pharmacopoeia instrument in the shape of a boat, from Zhuge Bagua, Jinhua province. It is used for carving medicinal herbs to make herbal pills. The central disc simulates the shape of a coin called 'whu shu'. A wooden cylinder was inserted into the central area, which, when operated with both hands, chopped and crushed the herbs.
