Description
Roman 30-70 A.D.Clay. L. 7 cmCentral rosette with five petals around the filling hole. The volutes of the muzzle with firing hole are slightly offset. On the underside a base ring with a small inner circle. surface partially worn; right tip of the volute spout reattached. Type Loeschcke IB. Lamps decorated with rosettes were very popular throughout the Roman period.From the estate of Dr. Roland Maly (d. 2005), Switzerland. A large part of the collection coming from the Dr. Jacob Hirsch (1874-1955).
