Etruscan 5th cent. B.C..Silver. L. 1.8 cmHorizontal oval applique with Herakles fighting the Cretan bull. He grabs one of the bull’s horns with his left hand whilst wielding a club in his right hand. The relief, embossed on fine sheet silver, is framed by a frieze of opposing leaves. Reassembled with a restoration in the middle. Part of upper edge missing.Formerly coll. Herbert A. Cahn, Basel, by the 1990s.
