Ca. late 17th to first quarter 18thC. Excellent for it's age, showing only light to moderate age appropriate cosmetic wear. At almost 300 years old, issues include rubs at high points, wood separations, and minor wood splits. This solid carved oak trunk is actually in amazing original condition-enlarge the pictures to confirm this. Very little, if any, evidence of repairs can be seen. The uncarved lift top sits over paneled sides and a carved triple geometric raised panel front. Strap hinges and rose head nails are a few of the interesting details featured on this well built blanket chest. The carved designs throughout remain very well preserved, and almost fully complete.
