Description
This lovely sampler was done by 11 year old Maggie McHale. She created her upper and lower case letters along with her numbers, all accented by flowers and vines. She added her name and age, and it's dated December 31, 1868. Nicely preserved in a simple wood frame. Measures 13.5" x 14"
Believed to be Margaret (Maggie) McHale was born in Pennsylvania some time in 1857 to John and Bridget McHale. Many McHales in the Pennsylvania region came to America from Ireland, arriving in the 1870s. Married Owen Gallagher sometime between her arrival in America and 1875 marking the birth of their first born child. She died in Alleghany PA in 1929. Nicely framed.
