Description
Large signed silkscreen print by Gija-speaking artist Jack Britten, entitled "Worrliman and Woorlgooman. The story expressed in the piece, as provided by Waringarri Aboriginal Arts: "This print shows the Dreaming place of Woorliman and Woorlgooman, two Dreamtime Women who are now hills. In the print the hills are shown at the bottom. The hill on the left is Woorliman, a young girl, and the hill on the right is Woorlgooman, an old woman. The artist has said of these two hills "Theyre standing up there. you can't move them. That young girl and that old girl. Thats the Dreamtime". At the top of the painting is country covered with rounded limestone hills which are called goowalewale in the Gija language." Artists proof. Signed with 'X" and titled in pencil in lower margin. Frame, approx. 48 1/2" x 35". Sight, approx. 41" x 27 1/2".
