Carl Graf Verri della Bosia (1865 - 1911) – the photograph collection of a Schutztruppe officer, mostly China, circa 1900Roughly 200 photographs taken in China, mounted on cardboard (measuring approx. 15 x 13 cm), in small bundles, including German and foreign soldiers, Chinese dignitaries, local residents, architecture, landscapes. Moreover seven uniform photographs (approx. 17 x 11 cm) of high-ranking German and Japanese officers, some with dedications to the Graf. Plus ten photographs (approx. 20 x 25 cm) from the Ottoman Empire. Also comes with several small photos of European sights (art, architecture) etc., some inscribed on the back. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Viewing is recommended. Remarkable estate belonging to a Schutztruppe officer. Hauptmann Graf Verri della Bosia was a platoon leader in the 3rd East Asiatic Infantry Regiment in 1901. 94th auction, lot no. 4036.
