Description
A Rare Chinese Style Magic Mirror Illusion. In fitted presentation case. Produced in very limited numbers for the Magic Circle centenary in 2005 by David Burder. The Magic Mirror is a metal disc around 4 1/4" in diameter. One side is engraved with Chinese characters of the Zodiac and has a central motif featuring a Magic Lantern. The reverse side is highly polished to a mirror finish. Even though no image can be seen on the polished side, when a pinpoint of light is shone on it as if by magic a reflected image of the rear is projected onto a wall or screen (very difficult to photograph). Over two thousand years ago the Chinese and Japanese made Magic Mirrors using polished bronze discs. This is a modern equivalent. First image shows item in use by David Berglas, ex-president of the Magic Circle.
