Early Italian Spanish Continental Faience Soldier Portrait Charger, majolica fluted plate or bowl form, 10.5 x3 inches, initials inscribed on underglaze of base. Provenance: This is one of 34 lots that come from a second estate in the auction with Vanderbilt ties, the private collection of a New York interior designer, name withheld, who lived in the James Macnamee Clara Vanderbilt House that later became the George Vanderbilt House on Grymes Hill in Stapleton Heights on Staten Island before retiring to the Florida Gulf Coast. Her room settings were featured in Better Homes and Gardens Decorating et al. Many of the artworks and antiques were acquired in Manhattan and much of the Outsider Art examples were obtained directly from the artists or as the original owner buying at exhibitions with the artist present.
