Description
Small figure of Lord Vishnu in its four-armed version with the head surmounted by the high crown (kirÄ«á¹Âa mukuá¹Âa) which identifies him as the "Lord of the Worlds". Two hands hold two attributes: the shell (Å›aá¹…ka), symbol of the five elements at the origin of existence and the disc (chakra), symbol of the mind and cohesive force; a third hand is in varadamudra, the gesture of dispensing boons. On his chest shines the Kaustubha gem which represents the pure consciousness and the lower part of the body is girded by the thin golden veil (pitambara) which represents the sacred Vedas through which the divine reality is perceived as well as the body of Vishnu is perceived through the golden veil.
