Deutsche Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross) hewer, 15.5 in. long overall, featuring a black checkered Bakelite grip on the obverse, and a smooth grip on the reverse, these held by the original fixing screws, now well oxidized. The finish on the pommel, crossguard, and the Red Cross emblem is good to very good with only one area of oxidation and pitting on the obverse side of the pommel nut. The reverse ricasso of the blade is marked ‘Ges. Geschutzt’ behind the crossguard extension. The blade is generally bright overall, with only scattered tiny patches of black oxidation discernable. The scabbard is constructed of black-painted steel with a plated drag and throat. It was at one time taken down to the steel and repainted, the reverse now showing scatters chips, the obverse fine. The lower fitting shows a chip to the plating, else very good.
