Description
Originally listed at $400
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Valdivian culture, ca. 2500 to 1500 BCE. A set of 2 hand-built pottery idols from the ancient Valdivian culture. First is a miniature standing figurine with attenuated limbs, a trapezoidal head with a bulbous nose, and a lateral perforation through the head, perhaps indicating this as a figural pendant. The larger figure is of a slender, columnar form with 1 rounded leg, nubbin arms, and a blocky head with incised facial features; the burnished surfaces are covered in dark red pigment. Size (columnar figure): 0.67" W x 2.9" H (1.7 cm x 7.4 cm); (petite figure): 0.65" W x 1.35" H (1.7 cm x 3.4 cm)
