Description
Native American, Southeast or Midwest, Mississippian, ca. 900 to 1543 CE. A pair of pottery vessels from Mississippian culture: a bowl and a bottle. Boasting a rich gray surface, the bowl presents a minimalist form with a rounded bottom and slanted walls that expand outwards to a broad rim over a deep basin. Alternatively, the bottle displays an abstract pattern formed via the negative resist method in hues of red, beige, black and gray, as well as a globular body, an attenuated, tubular neck, and a gently flared rim, all sitting upon a planar base. Size of larger (bowl): 9.8" Diameter x 4.5" H (24.9 cm x 11.4 cm)
