Item Details
Description

(Edgefield, South Carolina, b. circa 1800 d. after 1873) glossy light olive green alkaline glaze, rutile glaze runs at handle, neck and lower body, slightly lopsided ovoid form, two applied strap handles with fingertip impressions at terminus, collared spout with tooled rim, upside down "U" mark inscribed into clay just below spout above six faint punctate marks, likely made at the Lewis Miles Stony Bluff Manufactory, Horse Creek Valley, circa 1850's, 17 in. tall, 43 1/8 in. circumference

Note: Dave Drake's surviving body of work indicates that double handled jugs were a scarcely produced form. Finding them with the spout and handles intact and unrepaired is significant.
