Professionally framed signature of David Glasgow Farragut, a flag officer of the United States Navy during the Civil War. He was the first rear admiral, vice admiral, and admiral in the United States Navy. He is remembered for his order at the Battle of Mobile Bay, usually paraphrased as "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" in U.S. Navy tradition.

The signature appears to have been taken from a military form document and reads “Ship Hartford, D.G. Farragut, Rear Admiral.” Both “Hartford” and “D.G. Farragut” were written in ink in the appropriate spaces. The U.S.S. Hartford served in several prominent campaigns in the American Civil War as Farragut’s flagship, most notably at the Battle of Mobile Bay.
