Post-mortem daguerreotype taken by Pierre Eugène Fixon (1811- after 1875), an early French daguerreotypist who operated in Paris from the 1840s to 1870s. His work was exhibited at the French national expositions of 1849 and 1855. Representative examples of Fixon’s photographs are held by many eminent institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Louvre.
Lovely image of the deceased, in serene repose, forever immortalized by Fixon’s camera.
