David Douglas Duncan (American, 1916-2018) was a photojournalist, known for his combat photographs, and his extensive domestic photography of Pablo Picasso and his wife Jacqueline (Wikipedia).
In 1956, Duncan was traveling in Provence returning from Afghanistan, and then took the photo of Picasso sitting in his bathtub. That was the first of tens of thousands of images of Picasso, taken during the next seventeen years. Duncan remained in the studio which became his second home. Picasso and Duncan remained close friends till the passing of the Master in 1973. Duncan has created the ultimate book in memoriam of his friend and neighbor, Pablo Picasso.
