Includes 18 Illustrations & two photogravure plates. Volume I has inscriptions on the front pastedown and front free-endpaper. Bound in blue cloth with gilt illustrations to the front boards and gilt lettering to the spines. Gold gilt top edges.

"The Sailor King" is a biography of King William IV of England, who reigned from 1830 to 1837. The book focuses on William's time as a naval officer and his long career in the Royal Navy, offering a unique perspective on the life of the monarch and his contributions to England's naval history. The book provides a comprehensive account of William's time at sea, including his leadership style, courage in battle, and dedication to duty. It also explores the events that shaped his reign as king, including his relationships with his family and his efforts to modernize the monarchy.

Good condition. Some cover wear, heavy fading (sunning) of the spines, gutter repair in volume I, foxing throughout the books although mainly on the endpapers. Binding loose.
