Description
John Brogden
Antique gold brooch

John Brogden (1820-1884) was one of the most prolific of Victorian manufacturing jewelers during the second half of the 19th century. He is best known for his pieces of archaeological and classical inspiration, which he exhibited for the first time at the Great Exhibition of 1851. He was awarded various prizes between the 1850s and 1870s, and in 1880 he was granted a Royal Warrant from H.R.H Prince Leopold, son of Queen Victoria. Together with the firm Giuliano, he produced some of England's best examples of revival-style jewelry.
