Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A charming blackware stirrup vessel adorned with a pair of birds flanking the spout and a relief of vines with hanging fruits on the top. The ancient vessel sits upon a petite base displaying a wide hip, a rounded top, and a tubular spout. A petite bird sits on each side of the spout with beak attached to the stirrup, while 6 vines flare outwards in a starburst motif at the top, each culminating in an ovoid fruit. Size: 6.2" Diameter x 8.3" H (15.7 cm x 21.1 cm)
Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010

Professionally repaired with restoration and repainting over break lines. Chipping with some loss to rim. Expected nicks and abrasions to surface. Otherwise, very nice with light earthen deposits.
