Description
A George II carved mahogany fold top games table, mid 18th century, the hinged top having a green baize lined playing Surface and square recesses to each corner, fitted with a single full width oak lined dovetailed drawer, raised on slender cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees and pad feet with a tall shoe.
Dimensions:Height closed 29 1/4in; width 34in; depth 16 3/4in; height open 28 1/4in; depth open 33 1/2in.
Provenance:Bequest of R. Wistar Harvey to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, 1940. Sold on behalf of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to benefit future acquisitions; Freeman's, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, "The Gilded Age", July 14, 2022, Lot 65; Property from a Private Mainline Collection.

Condition
Structurally sound. Good color throughout. Typical marks, wear, scuffs, Surface scratches and abrasions. The baize lined playing Surface with marks, wear, stains and small losses. Minor age/shrinkage cracks. With a medial iron brace to underside for reinforcement.
