A George III inlaid mahogany tall case clock, John Stanton, Salisbury, circa 1793, the eleven and three quarter-inch arched brass dial, having Roman hours and Arabic minutes, the arch with name plate incised "John Stanton / Clock Maker / Salisbury / 1793" within cast spandrels, having a thirty-hour brass movement striking on a bell, the shaped hood with an inlaid six-point star, the trunk flanked with fluted quarter columns and string inlay, ending with an inlaid box base with shaped skirt.

Condition
The clock's case and movement are together by association. The case is structurally sound, with typical marks, wear, scuffs, Surface scratches, movement to veneers and small losses. The brass dial with minor bending, wear and toning. With two weights and pendulum. The pendulum with a break and glued repair to the wood rod. We cannot guarantee the completeness and functionality of the clocks movement.
