Description
One page, 7.625" x 12.25", Lexington, Middlesex County, Massachusetts; June 1, 1759. Legal contract recording that " Thomas Fessenden of Lexington... am Holden and Stand firmly bound and obliged unto Samuel Winshipp... of Thirty Six Pounds Lawfull money of New England..." Signed by Thomas Fessenden at bottom right. Witnessed by Muzzy and Thomas Prentice. Docketed. Thomas Fessenden and Amos Muzzy (1739-1822) were Minutemen in Captain John Parker's Company. They saw action at the famous Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775, where Muzzy's brother, Isaac, was one of the eight colonists killed. The Muzzys' were decedents of Benjamin Muzzey, the original builder of Buckman Tavern, a meeting place for the Lexington militia. Docket on verso, Fine condition ,measures 7.5 x 12".
