Description
A TIBETAN PAINTED SILK THANGKA OF THE BUDDHA AMITABHA, LATE 19TH CENTURY, painted in watercolors/gouache paints with a serene expression and long pendulant earlobes within a halo, above a deep red shawl covered shoulders over a long robe draped from one shoulder and his left side suspending rectangular panels inscribed "Buddha," before a radiant flaming mandorla and seated in meditation on a lotus throne with hands in dhyana mudra, while holding a patra (begging bowl) and raised on a Buddhist lion; height: 59", width: 34", framed height: 61", width: 35 1/2".
Condition
Old crease marks, liquid residue marks, discolorations, touch ups, small losses, small tears, areas of thin paint, and general darkening due to age and environments.
