Ca. 100-200 AD. An elegant glass flask featuring a globular body leading to a narrow neck with a straight rim. The vessel sits on a hollowed flat base. Roman glass expanded upon Hellenistic techniques with the arrival of glass blowing in the 1st century, popularising the material and allowing the manufacture of vessels that looked ethereal, then and now, with swirling colours that catch the light magnificently. Although the Romans did not invent glass, they certainly revolutionised it.
