A skillfully made cherished cloth, is a wonderful example of Italian figural filet work, openwork or cutwork and hand embroidered needlework. The lovely inserts of figural filet is striking with cupids, and Leda with the swan and other birds.
Leda and the Swan is a story from Greek mythology in which the god Zeus in the form of a swan seduces Leda.
Still retains it original paper label "MADE IN ITALY".
The stitches are skillfully worked into the linen with precise raised satin stitches incorporated into the scroll work. The raised work is excellent.

CONDITION
The condition is very good with no broken brides, no holes, no repairs and no weakness anywhere. Recently washed and professionally pressed.
The cloth had blue embroidery and needed to be soaked. Once I washed the blue did not all come out completely and can be seen in photos. I am sure one more washing this will all disappear.

APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS
This cloth measures approx., 103" x 86-1/2'' with 2-1/2" scalloped filet edging trim. Its original label states tablecloth measures 108" x 90".

Our antique textiles are collectible and are not new and not reproductions, and have lived a long and eventful life and sometimes developing flaws. We do not launder or dryclean unless stated in listing, and most times have been in storage for many decades picking up old age storage oxidation spots.
