Description
Group of Three American Clocks, 19th c, one an ebonized wood and spelter temple clock, time and strike, with a brass face, H.- 11 1/2 in., W.- 16 1/2 in., D.- 7 in.; the second a wood steeple clock, time and strike, with a paper chapter ring and an eglomise door, H.- 16 1/2 in., W.- 10 in., D.- 5 3/4 in.; the third of inlaid black marble, time only, with incised decoration on the front, with pendulum, H.- 9 7/8 in., W.- 8 3/8 in., D.- 5 in. (3 Pcs.) Provenance: from the Estate of Dr. Peter Elwood Dorsett, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition
We are unable to test clocks for working order. The clock with the gold dial has the hinge detached for the glass cover. Minor surface scratches and dings throughout. There is wear to the case from the handles. Marble clock has minor nicks along the edges. The tallest clock h as wear to the dial and to the painting on the glass. Some minor scratches and areas of paint loss. Wear is consistent with age and use. This is a handsome example.
