East Asia, China, Han Dynasty, ca. 206 BCE to 220 CE. A fine pair of pottery male figures, both shown standing with hands together at waist and displaying slender bodies draped in lengthy, flared robes. Sloped shoulders support their sizeable heads, each presenting huge eyes beneath slanted brows, a bulbous nose, and a petite mouth enveloped in a Fu Manchu moustache. Flat caps crown their heads as both are adorned by hues of cinnabar, beige, black, gray, and white. Size of largest (similar in size): 4.2" W x 11.4" H (10.7 cm x 29 cm)

These pieces have been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and have been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report is available to the buyer upon request.

Figure with low bun has been professionally repaired with restoration and repainting over break lines and minor chip to proper right ear. Alternatively, other figure has possible chip to top bun but is otherwise intact with light retouching on head and arms. Both have good presentation with expected surface wear. TL holes beneath hair and inside base of figure with top bun, as well as under right arm of figure with low bun.
