White House Dinner Menu Honoring Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Philip
Menu card, 1p, measuring 4.5" x 7", dated May 14, 1991, Washington, D.C. An official White House state dinner menu "Honoring Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness the Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh". Earlier that day, President George H.W. Bush was presented the Winston Churchill Award for leadership by the Queen in the White House Rose Garden. In turn, the evening was opened by remarks from the President, referring in his speech to Prince Philip, former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and current Prime Minister John Major. The menu is embossed with the gilt seal of the United States and features gilded bevel edging. Very minimal wear- a near-fine example.
