RIAA Gold video award for The Doors Live In Europe 1968. Released in Feb. 18, 1991, it was certified Gold by the RIAA for 50,000 units sold on July 9, 1991.

The live recorded included most of the major hits from the group's impressive run of singles at that point and is narrated/introduced by Grace Slick and Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane.

Detailed Item Description: This is an official RIAA Gold video "R hologram" award for The Doors Live In Europe 1968 longform video. It is presented to late Doors manager Danny Sugerman (1954-2005, misspelt on the award "Sugarman") who worked with the group from its earliest days and later went on the author or co-author several books about Jim Morrison and The Doors, including No One Here Gets Out Alive and The Doors: The Illustrated History. He also served as a consultant on the Oliver Stone film The Doors. The award was acquired through Sugarman's widow Fawn Hall (former secretary to Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North and a notable figure in the Iran-Contra affair) whose signed letter of provenance is included with the award (see image). The award was made in 1991 making this award approx. 30 years old. It is in VG to Excellent condition with only some very minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. It also features an original backing paper with Ill Eagle manufacturer's sticker.  

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
