Pre-Columbian, central coast Peru, Chimu culture, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A pleasing pottery vessel adorned on one side with the relief image of a figure standing atop straight legs with arms held out and bent at elbows, all against a stippled background. Wearing a tunic, a torque necklace, and a sizeable arching headdress, the figure gazes out from heavy-lidded eyes above an incised mouth, all flanked by a pair of high-set, target motif ears. The vessel itself features a planar base, a circular body, a tubular neck, a flared rim, and a ribbon-form handle connecting neck to shoulder, all enveloped in a rich, black slip. Size: 5.2" W x 6.3" H (13.2 cm x 16 cm)

Chipping to rim. Surface wear with abrasions and softening of detail. Otherwise, intact and excellent with nice earthen deposits on interior.
