American. 1860-1870s. Ripley Corporation, Pittsburgh, PA. Glass, brass. Double-handled footed finger kerosene lamp, colourless font embossed with flowers leaves and vine. #1 chimney, #1 burner. Font marked on base, “PAT’D JAN 7 JULY 14th AUG 11th 1868". “McSweeney” faintly marked on the bottom of the chimney. Burner marked, “NEW CALCIUM LIGHT 1870”, deflector. Thumbwheel marked, “PAT AUG 18/70 SEPT 19/65”. Chip to fitter edge of base. Thuro III – 85k. From the David Broughton Collection. 5 ½”H to top of collar.
