Bruce Lee Personally Owned "Kodokan Judo" Signed and Inscribed to Taky Kimura W/LOA - This copy of the book "Kodokan Judo: A Guide to Proficiency" was owned by Bruce Lee and eventually gifted to Taky Kimura, who was Lee's friend and mentee. Kimura was known as one of Bruce Lee's best students and was a certified instructor in Jun Fan Gung Fu, personally certified by Bruce Lee himself. The book is signed by Lee and inscribed to Taky Kimura: "To Taky/My Student and friend./ Concentrate yet not cling to it/Best Wishes/Bruce." The book is also marked in Lee's handwriting "Property of Bruce Lee" on the front end paper and "Bruce Lee/ 218 Notham Rd. 1/F/ Kow loon, Hong Kong" on the title page. The book comes with a letter of authenticity from Taky Kimura which states in part, "This informative volume was one of his favourites and appeared on his bookshelf for many years, before he decided to give it to me, his most senior student, as a present." The letter goes on to state, "This unique and historic volume also features seven of Bruce's personal JKD drawings on key pages". Bruce Lee died at the age of 32 making anything used or worn by him incredibly rare and highly sought after. Bruce Lee is widely considered by commentators, critics, media, and other martial artists to be one of the most influential martial artists of all time and a pop culture icon of the 20th century. He is often credited with helping to change the way Asians were presented in American films, and elevating the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, sparking a surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West in the 1970s. The direction and tone of his films dramatically changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in the US, Hong Kong, and the rest of the world. Lee was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. This July will mark the 50th anniversary of Bruce Lee's passing.
