The book was written by Oyama, a famous martial arts master, with instructions on the basics of Karate. The book is signed by Bruce Lee "from Bruce 'Kato'" in reference to his character on the 1960s action television series, The Green Hornet, along with a drawing of a man done by Lee and the inscription "To Dan Inosanto, Instructor." Bruce Lee died at the age of 32 making anything used or worn by him incredibly rare and highly sought after. Bruce Lee is widely considered by commentators, critics, media, and other martial artists to be one of the most influential martial artists of all time and a pop culture icon of the 20th century. He is often credited with helping to change the way Asians were presented in American films, and elevating the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, sparking a surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West in the 1970s. The direction and tone of his films dramatically changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in the US, Hong Kong, and the rest of the world. Lee was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. This July will mark the 50th anniversary of Bruce Lee's passing.
