Bruce Lee Personally Owned Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute Lapel Pin Given to Herb Jackson W/LOA - This lapel pin displays the emblem and signature phrases of Jun Fan Gung Fu, a form of martial arts related to Jeet Kune Do and created by Bruce Lee. The pin was gifted by Bruce Lee to his close friend and confidant, Herb Jackson, who was Lee's original back yard student and took an active role in improving Lee's training equipment. The pin is a small round pin with a red and orange Taijitu (yin-yang) symbol encircled by Chinese characters that translate to "Using no way as way" and "Having no limitation as limitation". The pin is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the son of Herb Jackson, which states, "I, Mark Ashton-Jackson, state that this item was owned and used by Bruce Lee, the legendary martial arts and action film star. This item was given to my father Herb Jackson as a gift from Bruce Lee in and around 1968. My father Herb Jackson was a very close friend and confidant of Bruce Lee and was also one of his private backyard students in Los Angeles in the mid to late 1960's". The pin also comes with documentation from University Archives. Bruce Lee died at the age of 32 making anything used or worn by him incredibly rare and highly sought after. Bruce Lee is widely considered by commentators, critics, media, and other martial artists to be one of the most influential martial artists of all time and a pop culture icon of the 20th century. He is often credited with helping to change the way Asians were presented in American films, and elevating the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, sparking a surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West in the 1970s. The direction and tone of his films dramatically changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in the US, Hong Kong, and the rest of the world. Lee was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. This July will mark the 50th anniversary of Bruce Lee's passing.
