Bruce Lee Signed 1969 National Karate Championship Program W/Photo and LOA - This program from the 1969 National Karate Championship is signed by Bruce Lee, and is accompanied by a photograph of Lee at the event. The championship was held in Washington, D.C. and Lee was close friends with Championship organizer Jhoon Ree and acted as a guest judge for the event. The accompanying photograph of the signing event shows athletes Joe Lewis, Bruce Lee, and Jhoon Ree sitting together, and the back reads: "Original Photo/Bruce Lee signing at 1969 National Karate Championships" in blue ink. This lot includes an original Letter of Authenticity from Garry King of Autografica. Measurements: program-11 x 8.5 inches; photo-7 x 5 inches. Bruce Lee is widely considered by commentators, critics, media, and other martial artists to be one of the most influential martial artists of all time and a pop culture icon of the 20th century. He is often credited with helping to change the way Asians were presented in American films, and elevating the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, sparking a surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West in the 1970s. The direction and tone of his films dramatically changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in the US, Hong Kong, and the rest of the world. Lee was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. This July will mark the 50th anniversary of Bruce Lee's passing.
