Description
London, circa 1770, made for the Spanish market by London clockmakers Perkins & Spencer (working 1765-1775), showing a finely crafted mahogany bell top case profusely decorated with running bands of oak leaf marquetry motifs against green stained fruitwood panels, the sides fitted with original carrying handles and fret-carved baffles, the arched & glazed door fronting an enamelled face with Roman numerals & pierced gilt hands, surmounted by a strike / silent feature and a calendar dial, raised overall upon bronze bracket feet. The mechanism showing a signed backplate housing a triple fusée eight-day movement with an eight-bell chime sounding on the quarter, half & full hour, as well as an hour repeat. Keys intact and in working condition at the time of cataloguing, minor areas of conservation & loss to the enamelled face. Dimensions, 28.75" high x 15" wide x 9.5" deep.
