Assembled H.B. & Cie. Choisy-Le-Roi Majolica Flower, Foliage and Key-Pattern Part Dessert Service
Circa 1880
The center molded with a ribbon-tied bouquet comprised of a large heart-shaped leaf, two fern fronds and a spray of briar rose, reserved on a brown-ground, the key-pattern border edged by white beads, comprising two high-footed two-handled compotes, height 4 1/2 inches, width 10 1/4 inches; two low two-handled footed dishes, width 11 3/4 inches; and seventeen dessert plates (at least one of these with an ivory ground); impressed uppercase banner mark and 2 black printed HB & Cie. monogram mark for Hautin, Boulenger & Cie., diameter 8 7/8 inches.
Note: variant spelling Boulanger v. Boulenger. To further confound later cataloguers, Louis's son, Hippolyte was named after his partner Hippolyte Hautin.
