Description
This is an absolutely magnificent antique flow blue Oval Covered Serving Bowl/Tureen.
The bowl is a fine example of the early pieces made by Doulton Burslem Pottery in England.
The covered bowl is in the Persian Spray pattern.
It is beautifully decorated with blue and golden bowls.
The bowl is marked with Doulton Burslem impressed and printed stamp that dates it between 1882 and 1902.
Each piece is hand pained/decorated individually, so there is some slight differences.
The bowl is 10" by 6 1/4" at the rim without handles and it is 2 1/2" deep without the lid.
The bowl is in good antique condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
There is some crazing that is consistent with its age and normal use, there are some dark spots and manufacturing defects like bubbles under the glaze and missing paint. There is a chip on inside the lid. Please see the pictures.
I usually don't sell pieces with that many defects but this is really unusual and hard to find collectable item.
It is a great display piece
A great example of the popular Victorian style.
