Sally Ride Signed Official NASA Portrait, Very Attractive
A beautiful signed photograph of astronaut Sally Ride. Measuring 8" x 10", n.p., ca. 1984. A color portrait of Ride, dressed in a navy polo with NASA and Challenger patches. Signed in black felt tip. Very light soiling, with a bold signature. Very fine.
Sally Ride (1951-2012) was the first American woman in space. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and English from Stanford University, a Master's Degree in Physics in 1975, and a Doctorate in Physics. Ride began her astronaut career as a mission specialist on STS-7, which launched from Kennedy Space Center, Florida on June 18, 1983. She also served as a mission specialist on STS-41-G, on October 5, 1984 (take-off) and October 13, 1984 (landing). Dr. Ride would later serve on the Presidential Commission appointed to investigate the Space Shuttle Challenger accident.
