A Victorian silver saucepan and cover
Robert Garrard, London 1877, incuse stamped 'GARRARD'S PANTON STREET LONDON'
Of circular form with gadroon rim, plain polished, with a stepped and shallow domed lift off cover surmounted with shell and foliate handle, the cover and base engraved with crest of a dog's head and neck paly bendy sable and or langued gules below a Marques coronet used by the family of the Duke of TECK, the deep lower pan with a removable tripartite internal divider, with double knopped elongated baluster form side handle, diameter 26.5cm, weight total 63oz.

The crest presented here is that used by Adolphus Charles Alexander Albert Edward George Philip Louis Ladiscaus CAMBRIDGE (1868-1927) 1st Marquis of Cambridge, the son of Prince Francis Duke of Teck (1837-1900) by Princes Mary Adelaide (1833-1897). He was the younger brother of Princess Victoria Mary of Teck (1867-1953), Queen Consort of King George V of the UK. At the death of his father in 1900 he succeeded to the tile as Duke of Teck but in 1917 relinquished all of his German titles to become Marquess of Cambridge. This crest is therefore post 1917.
