Description
Unique if not, one of a kind hand decorated boy’s racing sled dating from 1860 to 1880 era. Sled has heavy iron runners, long bent wood pull and incredible hand painted depiction of the famous ironclad gun boat from the Civil War as well as the word “Monitor” on top surface. Retains original paint, stenciling and decoration. 43” long (without handle); elongated handle is 40” – giving the total length 83”.
Condition
Original through out, retains original paint, obvious wear to painted surface, depiction to Monitor has scrapes and losses, wooden spacers on handle end have been replaced.
