Description
An American mahogany secretary abattant, with fitted interior having cubby holes and 6 drawers with original opalescent glass pulls, over 2 paneled doors with single shelf and mounted on heavy turned feet. Sold with bill of sale from owner to the "Farmers' and Manufacturers' National Bank of Poughkeepsie" in 1924 for the sum of $5 - the bill of sale also with previous owner's name attributing this to Poughkeepsie NY in the 19th century. The desk with veneer losses to the border of door, small loss to escutcheon area, else very good condition. Circa 1850. Measures 42 1/2"W x 16 1/2"D x 53 3/4"H. Provenance: Handed down through the VanKleek family, Dutchess County NY.
