Description
Late 18th-early 19th century, mahogany with pine secondary. Two piece with matching banded inlay and diamond escutcheons. Base has high tapered feet, three dovetailed drawers with applied beading and originalbrasses. Slanted writing surface. Top has drop front with faux tambour sides and center door. Fitted interior and slanted writing surface. Flame grain mahogany veneer on drawer fronts and faux door. Several chalkand graphite inscriptions and dates on back including 1801. Two legible are "1875 Scrape 2-3-4 March" and "Was will to me the 28 Dec. 1891 by Marthy G. Lincoln 1891". Age splits, edge wear and some loss. 50.25"h. 40.75"w.21"d.
